Almost 2,000 people in the US are reported with Cyclospora infections. Michigan accounts for nearly 1,000 of these, so it is the hardest-hit state so far.
Officials believe the parasite came from fresh produce. They are testing greens, herbs as well as berries. Shoppers should wash all produce well. Cooking food helps too. The outbreak continues to spread quickly so checks will ramp up.
