The remarks added to his public feud with One Nation. The dispute is focused on the cartoon and the criticism directed at Hanson and Joyce. Hastie challenged Hanson over it. He also stepped up his criticism of One Nation senators during the Canberra appearance. The accusation continues to be the main point of the dispute.
