Massie loses primary challenge in victory for Trump

Kentucky contest was described as a costly House-era contest, and a test of Donald Trump's influence within the party. Trump publicly backed Gallrein while Massie criticized Trump on certain votes. Gallrein wins the nomination to the general election in a deeply Republican district, facing Democrat Melissa Strange. Massie has served since 2012 and was targeted by Trump in part by calling for Jeffrey Epstein file release and criticizing the war in Iran.
