Harden represented with Somerset from 1985 to 1998, and also for Yorkshire (1999-2000), having spells in NZ. He subsequently moved to NZ, and runs a financial advisory firm. He is married to Rachel Reese, whom he backed in the Nelson mayoral race, and they wed in 2017; they are parents to three from prior relationships.
