Mark Carney has travelled to Europe working to strengthen Canada-EU relations on national security, trade and business, and people.

He will visit France and will attend the EU State of the Union address.

Based on reports, he has put forward making Canada an associate member of the EU.

Carney stated visa requirements and possible visa-free travel are included in the talks.

Some commentators note the bloc's warm view of Carney does not ensure more straightforward trade agreements.
