Essendon defender Jordan Ridley has been sent to Geelong, with the deal finalised on 7 October 2026. The trade sends utility Jack Bowes to Essendon along with four draft picks.

Ridley had been heavily linked to the Cats after Essendon placed a firm price on the defender. Essendon were not budging on their valuation throughout the trade period.

The agreed trade gives Geelong an experienced backman while Essendon picks up Bowes and additional selections. Bowes is a versatile utility who bolsters the Essendon list heading into the pre-season period.
