Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has temporarily stopped taking new applications for family visa sponsorship for elderly relatives. Families can not file any new forms to bring elderly relatives to Canada. The government provided no update on when or if the freeze will lift. Recent updates to immigration rules came just before the shutdown. This week data on work permit delays emerged. Yet, no plan to clear the growing backlog was shared.
