Recent Incidents

A fatal incident on the Kitchener Line east of Guelph caused delays in February. Other past events include a train derailment prompting modified schedules and a railway dispute briefly halting operations in August 2024.[2]

Expansion Efforts

GO Expansion aims for 15-minute-or-better service on core routes like Lakeshore East/West, Kitchener, Stouffville, and Barrie to handle growth to 15 million people by 2051. A Metrolinx partnership for faster service ended early in May 2025. Veterans and Canadian Armed Forces members can now ride free.[5][2]
