Recent periods of high temperatures across Europe caused over 35,000 fatalities. Germany reported a record 15,800 heat-related fatalities during the summer season. Meanwhile, France linked a sharp rise in drownings directly to the extreme heat conditions affecting the region.
Conditions continue to be harsh in the United States in addition. Severe heat and active wildfires stretch across the country from Texas all the way to the West Coast. Arizona continues to see extreme temperatures this week. In response to the hazardous weather, governments issued safety advisories to protect the public through the ongoing extreme weather.
