Cameron McInnes has signed a three-year contract to join the York Knights in the English Super League, with his move set to commence in 2027. The Cronulla Sharks co-captain, aged 32, was off-contract at the end of 2026, and the Sharks cited tight salary cap restrictions as the reason they could not extend his deal. Long-rumored talks with the Perth Bears, the inbound expansion side, did not come to fruition, and McInnes will now embark on a fresh chapter with York after successfully finalizing terms with the newly promoted club.
McInnes returned to play earlier this year after an ACL rupture and nerve injury sustained in late 2025, marking a swift comeback that followed a second major ACL reconstruction in his career. He also faced a recent setback, sustaining a lateral ankle sprain in Round 10 of the 2026 season, but his resilience has kept him in the conversation around York’s plans for 2027.
