Far from the usual roar of Falcons fans or the excitement of a soccer match, the stadium buzzed with the energy of over 3,900 Georgia Tech students eager to connect with leading companies for potential careers. This record-breaking attendance for the annual event underscores the significance of Mercedes-Benz Stadium as a versatile venue, extending its role beyond sports and entertainment to become a key location for career advancement and professional opportunities in Atlanta.

On September 14th, the field typically shared by the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC was filled with booths representing more than 120 prominent companies. Organizations like Google, PwC, and Chick-fil-A were among those present, actively seeking to recruit talent from Georgia Tech’s diverse student body. While computer science and computational media students were naturally drawn to the fair, attendees came from across all six Georgia Tech colleges. This included students from programs as varied as aerospace engineering and urban analytics, highlighting the broad appeal of careers in technology and computing across different disciplines.
Dara Hudson, the College of Computing events manager and co-organizer, noted the strong drive among students to pursue their career aspirations as a key factor in the event’s record attendance. She explained, “Students from all majors are attracted to our career fair because the current job market requires most applicants to have a background in computer science.” This sentiment reflects the increasing importance of tech skills in today’s job market, making events like this at Mercedes-Benz Stadium crucial for students seeking to launch their careers.
For those unable to attend the in-person event at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the College of Computing also provided a virtual career fair on September 20th, which attracted nearly 1,000 online participants. Many companies participating in both the physical and virtual career fairs are part of the College of Computing’s Corporate Affiliates Program (CAP). These CAP partners further support students through hackathons, conference travel scholarships, and professional development initiatives, demonstrating a strong commitment to nurturing future talent.
Celebrating its tenth year of hosting bi-annual career fairs, the College of Computing continues to provide valuable opportunities for students and recent alumni. Looking ahead, the 2024 Spring Career Fair is scheduled to be held at McCamish Pavilion. However, the success of the recent event at Mercedes-Benz Stadium highlights the venue’s capacity to host large-scale career-focused events, further establishing it as a significant location for Mercedes-Benz Stadium careers events and broader professional development opportunities in Atlanta.
