For Jim Ellis Automotive Group, this acquisition is more than just adding another dealership to their portfolio. “It’s a rare and incredible opportunity to not only have acquired this Mercedes-Benz dealership, but to also have done so in our own hometown of Atlanta,” stated Jimmy Ellis, CEO of Jim Ellis Automotive Group. He further highlighted the company’s long-standing history with German automotive brands, starting with Volkswagen five decades ago in Atlanta, emphasizing the strategic importance of this Mercedes-Benz addition.
Mercedes-Benz of Atlanta South becomes the 20th dealership under the Jim Ellis Automotive Group umbrella and represents the 16th brand in their diverse automotive offerings. Notably, all Jim Ellis locations are geographically concentrated within Georgia, reinforcing their commitment to the local market. This purchase follows Jim Ellis Automotive Group’s acquisition of Nalley Ford Sandy Springs from Asbury Automotive Group Inc. in late 2020, demonstrating a pattern of continued growth and strategic expansion within the region.
For Swickard Auto Group, the sale of Mercedes-Benz of Atlanta South signifies a shift in their geographic focus. This Atlanta location was their sole dealership on the East Coast. The group’s remaining 17 dealerships are situated across the western United States, including Alaska, California, Oregon, and Washington.
