For over a decade, Birmingham’s Red Mountain Entertainment has been instrumental in bringing a diverse range of performances to the amphitheater, starting with the inaugural show featuring the Avett Brothers. However, as the contract with Red Mountain Entertainment draws to a close on December 31st of this year, the Tuscaloosa City Council has decided to move in a new direction.
Mayor Walt Maddox acknowledged the significant contribution of the outgoing partner, stating, “Red Mountain Entertainment has played a vital role in the creation and growth of the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater. Their dedication and efforts have laid a strong foundation for us to build upon.” This transition comes at a time of exciting developments for the venue, which was recently renamed the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater to honor the impactful relationship between the city and Mercedes-Benz U.S. International. Furthermore, city officials are actively considering a comprehensive 10-year plan for upgrades and transformations to enhance the amphitheater experience.
Looking ahead, the Tuscaloosa City Council has unanimously approved a new partnership with Danny Wimmer Presents Talent Services, LLC. Danny Wimmer Presents (DWP) is a well-known name in the live entertainment industry, recognized for producing numerous large-scale music festivals and concerts across the nation. This new collaboration signals an exciting phase for the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater and the city of Tuscaloosa.
