Gary “Wade” Benz, Jr., a cherished member of the Nashville, Tennessee community, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, and rejoined his Lord and Savior. Born on November 14, 1979, in Nashville, Wade Benz was known for his infectious smile, sharp wit, and genuine interest in others, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was a devoted father, loving husband, beloved son and brother, and a trusted friend and mentor to many.
From a young age, Wade demonstrated a remarkable versatility and charisma. Even before turning 18, he explored careers in modeling, acting, and news broadcasting, showcasing his natural talent and engaging personality. Wade possessed a curious mind, always eager to learn about new technologies, current events, and the world of politics. His faith was central to his life, and he proudly graduated from Christ Presbyterian Academy (CPA), Western Kentucky University, and Belmont University, nurturing both his intellectual and spiritual growth. Following his college years, Wade embarked on a fulfilling professional journey, partnering with his father, Gary Benz, in business – a partnership he deeply valued and cherished. A lifelong learner, Wade was an avid reader, immersing himself in biographies and business journals to expand his knowledge and understanding of the world.
Beyond his professional and intellectual pursuits, Wade found immense joy and solace in his personal life. He especially loved vacationing on the beaches of Florida. It was there, in 2010, that he experienced love at first sight, meeting Natalie, who would become his wife. Their bond deepened quickly, and they married the following year, building a home in the vibrant community of Franklin, Tennessee. Together, they were blessed with four beautiful children, who were the center of Wade’s world. He relished every moment spent with his children, from attending daddy-daughter dances with his eldest daughter, Sawyer, to peaceful Sunday morning fishing trips with his son, Owen. He made special daddy-daughter dates with Remy for donuts and cherished quiet moments with his youngest daughter, Sully. These moments were the highlights of his life, filled with laughter, love, and the creation of lasting memories.
Wade Benz had an exceptional ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He was known for his friendly nature and loyalty to his family, leaving a positive mark on countless individuals throughout his life’s journey. His warm presence and genuine care for others will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Wade is survived by his beloved wife Natalie, his daughters, Sawyer Kate, Remington Ryan “Remy”, and Sullivan Roe “Sully”, and his son, Owen Wade. He also leaves behind his parents, Gary and Diane Benz, his sister, Stephanie (Jody) McBrayer, and his brother, Chase (Tessa) Benz. His in-laws, Mike and Kelly Roebuck, brothers-in-law, Michael (Hannah) Roebuck, Christopher (Mallory) Roebuck, and Ryan Roebuck, along with nieces, Sarah-Clayton McBrayer, Shiloh and Noah Benz, Riley and Blake, Charlie and Millie, and nephews, Tripp and Phillip Roebuck, also mourn his passing.
In remembrance of Wade’s life and his commitment to his community, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Christ Presbyterian Academy in support of the “Unseen Stories” project. This initiative, close to Wade’s heart, aims to enhance the campus athletic and wellness facilities. Wade was a passionate supporter of CPA Athletics and deeply valued the sense of community fostered by school spirit. A Celebration of Life service to honor Wade’s memory will be held at Rolling Hills Community Church in Franklin, TN, located at 1810 Columbia Ave. Franklin, TN 37064. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with the service commencing at 2:00 PM. A private burial for family will follow the service.
