2023 Mercedes-Benz GT-Class: Unveiling Enhanced Performance and Luxury

Mercedes-AMG has announced technical and visual upgrades for the 2023 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 and Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S models, reinforcing its position in the high-performance luxury segment. The updates include refined design elements, improved AMG RIDE CONTROL+ suspension, and expanded customization options, making the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe more appealing than ever. The V8 models are expected to reach U.S. dealerships later this year, promising a blend of AMG’s signature driving dynamics with everyday usability. Customers will benefit from a wider array of choices in wheels, upholstery, trim, and exterior colors, allowing for greater personalization of their 2023 Mercedes-benz Gt-class vehicle.

The most noticeable change in the updated eight-cylinder 2023 Mercedes-Benz GT-Class models is the redesigned front fascia. First introduced on the range-topping GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE, this new front end gives the vehicle a more streamlined and cohesive appearance, seamlessly integrating into the overall dynamic design. The outer air intakes are now wider and more aggressively styled, pointing towards the center of the car to emphasize its sporty nature. Airflow to the radiators is optimized through three vertical fins integrated into these intakes, improving both form and function of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GT-Class.

According to Philipp Schiemer, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, “In the 4-Door Coupe segment, the Mercedes-AMG GT offers the perfect balance between everyday practicality and sportiness.” He highlights the model’s versatility, noting its capability as a “superior Gran Turismo for the whole family” and its record-breaking performance on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. Schiemer also pointed out the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GT-Class role as the “fastest and most powerful medical car in Formula 1® history,” demonstrating its high-performance pedigree. The range of powertrain options, including six- and eight-cylinder engines and the first AMG hybrid in the E PERFORMANCE configuration, further underscores the diversity of the GT 4-Door Coupe lineup. The enhanced individualization options for the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GT-Class aim to elevate the brand’s profile in the Performance Luxury market, offering customers increased exclusivity and lifestyle appeal.

Expanding the color palette for the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GT-Class, the exterior options now include Starling Blue Metallic and Starling Blue Magno, previously introduced for the six-cylinder models. This provides customers with a total of four matte finishes, five metallic shades, and two solid colors to choose from. Further personalization of the expressive exterior design can be achieved with the new AMG Night Package II or by combining the Night Package with the AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber Package. Interior enhancements for the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GT-Class also include new colors and trims, extending to the AMG Performance steering wheel, allowing drivers to tailor the cabin to their preferences.

A significant technical upgrade for the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GT-Class is the standard-fit AMG RIDE CONTROL+ suspension, based on Air Body Control. This system now features adaptive, electronically controlled adjustable damping with new pressure limiting valves. These continuously variable valves, positioned externally to the damper, enable more precise adjustments of damping force in response to varying driving conditions and AMG DYNAMIC SELECT programs. One valve manages rebound damping (wheel rebound force), while the other controls compression damping (wheel compression force). The independent control of rebound and compression stages enhances both ride comfort and driving dynamics. Passengers in the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GT-Class will experience improved isolation from road imperfections, while drivers will appreciate the enhanced sporty handling.

The suspension control unit constantly analyzes data from acceleration and wheel path sensors, adjusting damping force at each wheel within milliseconds. AMG engineers have broadened the spectrum between sportiness and comfort in the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GT-Class by increasing the difference between minimum and maximum damping force characteristics and allowing for greater flexibility in map design. The dual adjustment valves ensure responsive damping force modulation across the full range of wheel vibrations, enabling the damper to react swiftly and sensitively to changing road surfaces and driving scenarios.

Drivers of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GT-Class can pre-select the fundamental suspension setup using the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive programs. A simple button press can alter handling characteristics, ranging from maximum dynamics in “Sport+” mode to relaxed cruising in “Comfort” mode. Fine-tuning of the suspension is also available through a dedicated button, offering three stages of adjustment independent of the selected drive program, providing a tailored driving experience in the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GT-Class.

For the highest level of personalization and luxury in the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GT-Class, the MANUFAKTUR label offers exclusive paint finishes and meticulously crafted interiors, predominantly processed by hand. The expanded AMG GT palette now includes three MANUFAKTUR Signature Paint finishes: Arabian Grey, Cashmere White Magno, and China Blue. More MANUFAKTUR paint options are planned for future releases, further enhancing the exclusivity of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GT-Class. Interior MANUFAKTUR options include three additional choices of exclusive nappa leather with diamond quilting, along with a two-tone AMG Performance steering wheel and AMG high-pile floor mats featuring embroidered AMG lettering. Additional individualization features will continue to be added to the MANUFAKTUR program in subsequent years for the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GT-Class.
