Unveiling the 2025 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter: More Options, More Range for North America

Mercedes-Benz USA is expanding its offerings for the all-new 2025 eSprinter, introducing the highly anticipated 81 kWh battery option alongside a standard roof and 144” wheelbase configurations. This strategic move aims to cater to a broader spectrum of commercial needs within the North American market. Alongside these exciting developments for the electric van, the conventionally powered Mercedes-Benz Sprinter also receives significant upgrades, boasting new digital features, the latest generation MBUX system, and enhanced safety and assistance technologies. Both the 2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and 2025 Mercedes-benz Esprinter are now available for order at dealerships and are expected to arrive in the second half of 2024, with the Sprinter starting at $50,830 and the eSprinter at $61,180.

More Variety Tailored to Diverse Commercial Needs

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter is engineered with modularity at its core, mirroring the versatility of its combustion engine counterpart. This design philosophy ensures the eSprinter’s adaptability across various industries and applications, facilitating CO2-emission-free transportation without compromising on flexibility. Businesses can now choose from a wider array of configurations to perfectly match their operational demands, balancing range, body style, and payload capacity. In addition to the previously announced 113 kWh battery, 170” wheelbase, and high roof combination, North American customers can now specify their 2025 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter with an 81 kWh battery. This new option is available with different wheelbase lengths and roof heights, empowering businesses to optimize their vehicle selection for specific tasks, whether it’s maximizing payload for inner-city deliveries or prioritizing range for regional routes. By offering diverse battery capacities, Mercedes-Benz directly addresses varying total cost of ownership requirements, ensuring the eSprinter is a viable solution for everything from local urban transport to extended regional feeder services.

For businesses prioritizing payload, the 144” wheelbase with a standard roof configuration offers an impressive cargo volume of up to 319 cubic feet and a maximum payload of 3,516 lbs. Conversely, for applications demanding greater cargo space, the longer 170” wheelbase combined with a high roof and the 81 kWh battery yields a total volume of 488 cubic feet, while still providing a substantial payload of up to 3,120 lbs. Notably, this configuration offers almost 500 lbs. more payload capacity compared to the same setup with the larger 113 kWh battery. Crucially, all 2025 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter variants maintain a permissible gross vehicle weight of up to 9,370 lbs.

“Daily delivery vehicles generally follow a fixed predictable route that is usually under 150 miles – making the eSprinter the perfect solution for last-mile-deliveries. However, businesses have different needs when it comes to range, cargo volume and payload. It’s important to us to expand our product mix and provide options that tailor to their specific commercial purpose,” states Iain Forsyth, Director of Product Management and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Vans USA.

Performance, Range, and Advanced Charging Solutions

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter is powered by a highly efficient permanent magnet synchronous motor, available in two power outputs: 100 kW or 150 kW peak, delivering up to 295 ft.-lb of torque. The 81 kWh battery provides a robust electric range of up to 329 kilometers (approximately 204 miles) based on the WLTP test procedure, making it ideally suited for urban last-mile delivery services. For extended range requirements, the 113 kWh battery variant offers up to 478 kilometers (around 297 miles). Both the 81 kWh and 113 kWh battery options support both alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) charging. DC fast charging at up to 115 kW can replenish the 81 kWh battery from 10 to 80 percent capacity in just over 30 minutes, minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.

Mercedes-Benz is committed to enhancing the EV charging experience for its customers. Through the Mercedes me connect service Mercedes me Charge, eSprinter drivers gain access to nearly 100,000 public charging points across the nation, forming one of the largest integrated charging networks in the U.S. Furthermore, the recently launched Mercedes-Benz Charging Network aims to set a new benchmark for fast, reliable, and premium EV charging, benefiting drivers of all EV brands and expanding the North American charging infrastructure. Complementing public charging solutions, the new Mercedes-Benz Wallbox offers a convenient and intelligent at-home charging option for eSprinter owners. For commercial fleets, Mercedes-Benz USA’s collaboration with ChargePoint provides tailored Fleet Depot Charging solutions, integrating specialized hardware, vehicle telematics, and software for efficient fleet management.

The New Mercedes-Benz Sprinter: Enhanced Safety, Intelligence, and Digital Integration

For nearly three decades, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has defined the modern light commercial vehicle segment, becoming synonymous with the large van class. The Sprinter remains the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz Vans portfolio, renowned for its adaptability to diverse customer and industry-specific requirements. The 2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter upholds this legacy, promising exceptional comfort and capability across its various configurations, from cab chassis and powertrains to cargo and passenger vans, with rear- or all-wheel drive options and a maximum gross vehicle weight of up to 12,125 lbs. All 2025 Sprinter models are equipped with the smooth and efficient 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, with all-wheel-drive available on select models. This broad range of variants makes the Sprinter an ideal platform for upfitters, with over 75 percent of commercial Sprinters sold being customized for specific industries, including courier services, passenger transport, ambulances, and recreational vehicles.

The 2025 Sprinter elevates safety, comfort, and digital connectivity to new heights while maintaining its hallmark flexibility. The optional intelligent MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia system features a 10.25-inch touchscreen display and a color instrument cluster. Both screens are intuitively controlled via touch-sensitive panels on the new multifunction steering wheel, which incorporates capacitive sensors for hands-off detection, similar to smartphone technology. An optional smartphone storage compartment with wireless charging further enhances convenience.

Next-Generation MBUX and Comprehensive Digital Features

Both the 2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and eSprinter feature the latest generation of the MBUX multimedia system with a 10.25-inch display, boasting significantly faster processing power and refined menu navigation for a seamless digital experience. The intelligent voice assistant is now even more advanced, capable of executing certain commands without the “Hey Mercedes” activation phrase. Utilizing microphones in the optional comfort overhead control panel, the voice assistant can identify the command’s origin, enabling seat-specific functions like activating seat heating. “Hey Mercedes” can also explain vehicle functions and assist with tasks such as Bluetooth smartphone pairing. Wireless smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is now standard with MBUX, and over-the-air (OTA) updates allow for convenient software upgrades and the addition of new vehicle features.

A particularly useful MBUX feature is the rear space display, which uses the rearview camera to project a hatched area on the central display indicating the space required to open the rear doors fully. This programmable distance can be adjusted based on cargo size, improving loading and unloading efficiency. The camera image is also displayed when the rear doors are opened, providing enhanced visibility.

The MBUX infotainment system, in conjunction with the Mercedes me connect app, unlocks a suite of digital extras that enhance the intelligence and convenience of the Sprinter and eSprinter. Free services like maintenance, accident, and breakdown management, along with remote services such as door locking/unlocking, are easily accessible via the Mercedes me connect app. New features include satellite view and improved navigation tailored for trailers and oversized vehicles. For fleet operators with mixed-brand fleets, Mercedes-Benz offers the flexibility to monitor all vehicles through a single interface using authorized telematics providers. The 2025 eSprinter’s MBUX integration extends to the electric vehicle ecosystem, providing intelligent navigation with active range management, cloud-based services, and apps for optimized route planning, charging strategy adjustments, and pre-conditioning.

Enhanced Safety and Assistance Systems for Comprehensive Support

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and eSprinter feature upgraded safety and assistance systems, many of which are now standard. Active Brake Assist now includes an intersection function, warning of perpendicularly crossing or oncoming vehicles at speeds up to 37 mph, and dangerous overtaking maneuvers up to 43 mph. It can also intervene in emergencies at speeds up to 25 mph and assist with turning to avoid collisions. The new Sideguard Assist, available with Blind Spot Assist, enhances awareness of road users on the passenger side, providing visual and acoustic warnings when a vehicle is detected in the blind spot while the turn signal is activated.

Moving-off Information Assist, a new optional feature, helps prevent collisions with pedestrians or cyclists in front of the vehicle at speeds up to 6 mph, providing visual and acoustic warnings. Active Lane Keeping Assist is enhanced by a new front camera, providing corrective steering intervention to prevent unintentional lane departures. The optional digital interior mirror offers a clear rear view even without a rear window, utilizing an HDR camera on the rear roof to transmit a high-quality image to the rearview mirror, with automatic brightness adjustment based on ambient conditions. New eSprinter-specific options include Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Traffic Sign Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, and a Parking Package with a 360-degree camera, further enhancing functionality and safety for commercial applications.

“With its versatility, a new generation of infotainment systems and enhanced safety- and assistance systems, the Sprinter continues to be the perfect overall system solution for a wide range of commercial transport and mobility requirements. Meanwhile, the new eSprinter impresses with its efficiency, range and load volume. In doing so, it also underscores the Group’s claim to leadership in electric mobility in the commercially oriented segment,” emphasizes Andreas Zygan, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans Development.

Upgraded Standard Equipment and Ordering Information

Mercedes-Benz USA has significantly enhanced the standard equipment for both the 2025 Sprinter and eSprinter, streamlining equipment packages to better align with customer preferences. Frequently combined functional features are now bundled into packages like the Winter Package PLUS (including heated seats, heated steering wheel, and wet wiper system) and the Drive Assist Package (featuring various driver assistance systems and a 360-degree camera). Standard equipment upgrades for both models include a new multifunction steering wheel with capacitive sensors, tire pressure monitoring (front/rear) for dual rear wheel models, a rain sensor, entry handles on the front doors, and passive child detection in crew and passenger models. Sprinter passenger models offer a SELECT line option, adding a leather steering wheel, comfort driver’s seat, comfort overhead control unit, and LED high-performance headlights with Adaptive Highbeam Assist.

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and 2025 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter are available for order now at U.S. dealerships. The Sprinter starts at $50,830, and the eSprinter starts at $61,180 (excluding $2,295 destination and delivery charge). Both models are anticipated to arrive at dealerships in the second half of 2024.
