Ginger Vaughan, a beloved member of the Weslaco and Mercedes, Texas community, passed away on December 20th, 2021, in Weslaco, TX. She is now reunited with loved ones, including her husband Carroll Vaughan, her father Bennie Brown, mother Virginia Brown, and brother Doug Brown, in eternal peace. Ginger’s life was beautifully dedicated to her family and faith.
For 41 years, Ginger lovingly devoted herself to her husband and together they built a Christian home while raising three children. She is survived by her son, Baylor Vaughan (and his wife Amanda), her daughter, Tinka O’Dwyer (and her husband Sean), and her daughter, Twyla Vaughan. Her legacy also continues through her cherished grandchildren: Dustin Vaughan, Mika O’Dwyer, and Kylee O’Dwyer. Ginger is also survived by her sister Karen Doffing (and her husband Randy).
Ginger found joy in simple pleasures and community activities. She enthusiastically supported her children in 4-H events, shared recipes and warm moments with her sister Karen, and enjoyed the tranquility of fishing and the excitement of hunting outdoors. Her playful spirit shone through her love for mail-in sweepstakes and carefree days spent playing in the Frio River. Known for her generous heart, Ginger was often a “free Uber” for her friends and actively served her church community at RGV Fellowship Church. Her commitment to the youth of Mercedes was evident in her 48 years of service to the 4-H and FFA at the Mercedes Livestock Show Lamb Arena, located at 1000 N Texas Ave Mercedes Tx 78570.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Ginger’s honor on Saturday, January 8th, at 10:30 am at the Mercedes Livestock Show Lamb Arena, 1000 N Texas Ave Mercedes TX 78570, a place deeply connected to her years of service. Pastor Art Beckwith will share words of remembrance from 10:30 am to 11:00 am, followed by a potluck and dessert social. Guests are invited to bring their favorite dish to share as we celebrate Ginger’s life together.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Ginger’s memory to MD Anderson Cancer Center. Donations can be made “in honor of” Ginger Vaughan, with cards mailed to 7317 Escondido St Mission TX 78573 (Baylor Vaughan).
The service will also be available via livestream on facebook/mccalebfuneralhome for those who are unable to attend in person at 1000 N Texas Ave Mercedes TX 78570. If you have memorable photos of Ginger, please share them by emailing [email protected] for inclusion in a special slideshow.
